E m i l i a is a narrating the history of my home town, Scandiano, and of my own region in Italy – Emilia Romagna – through the stories of the women that in the past eighty years have been working to what is nowadays prosperity and freedom. In 2016 E m i l i a was exhibited at Fotografia Europea 2016 in Reggio Emilia (Italy). Together with the black and white portraits of the ladies printed on fine art paper, there were also twenty square tiles, each of them showing a detail of the interior of the homes of the ladies.
E m i l i a è una storia, la storia della mia città natale e dell’Emilia in senso più esteso, narrazione che avviene attraverso le storie di quelle donne che negli ultimi ottanta anni hanno lavorato per creare la prosperità e la libertà di cui noi oggi godiamo. Donne comuni e allo stesso tempo straordinarie – insegnanti, una ostetrica, madri e mogli – pilastri della nostra società, nonostante tutto. Le loro storie e i video delle protagoniste di Emilia sono raccolti in questo sito.
Nel 2016 E m i l i a è stata messa in mostra durante Fotografia Europea 2016. Insieme ai ritratti delle nove signore, stampati su carta fine art, sono state esposte venti mattonelle quadrate sulle quali erano stampate immagini di dettagli delle case delle signore.
